The Daily Wellthy: Sugar blues

screen-shot-2016-09-08-at-10-12-07-am

Scientists have found that sugar is addictive and stimulates the same pleasure centers of the brain as cocaine or heroin. It’s true, sugar is eight times more addictive than class A drugs. Just like those hard-core drugs, getting off sugar leads to withdrawal and cravings, requiring an actual detox process to wean off. FMU News on Osteoporosis: How Fast Are You Losing Bone?

screen-shot-2016-09-08-at-9-38-51-am

Hello… Osteoporosis is reaching an epidemic status.
It leads to 1.5 million fractures per year. The
traditional way one is evaluated for osteoporosis
is the standard Bone Density Test. Although important
to have done, this is a static test and “only” provides
information on the amount of bone that has already been
lost. Unfortunately it does not provide data on the rate
of bone loss. Wouldn’t it be wise to know how fast you
are losing bone? Wouldn’t it be of great value to know
if the treatment you are doing is slowing down the rate
of bone loss?

Yumyums: Kale

Kale is one of the healthiest vegetables around and one way to be sure to enjoy the maximum nutrition and flavor from kale is to cook it properly. We recommend Healthy Steaming kale for 5 minutes. To ensure quick and even cooking cut the leaves into 1/2″ slices and the stems into 1/4″ lengths. Let them sit for at least 5 minutes to enhance their health-promoting qualities before steaming.
